Sometimes you just have to go “all-out custom.” This custom outdoor grill patio in Exeter, New Hampshire, is the perfect example. The client called us wanting something of a conversation piece in his backyard.
After meeting with him, we learned he often entertained friends and family and loved grilling outside. It was pretty obvious to us that the “conversation piece” in this patio project should be a custom outdoor grill.
After installing the Techo-bloc paver patio, we went to work on the outdoor grill construction, installing conduit and gas piping and pouring a concrete base. We salvaged two large pieces of granite from a stone quarry in the NH Lakes Region that would serve as the corner posts for the grill enclosure.
Our skilled stone masons split each piece in two using a feather-and-wedge process, then secured these four corner posts onto the concrete pad. Once the granite posts were installed, they began meticulously cutting and grinding landscape block to fit perfectly in between the posts.
With the grill insert installed and plumbed, the final finishing touch was – of course – a custom-cut polished granite countertop. While this outdoor propane grill may not be portable, it is permanent!
