The styles, color, and pattern selections of concrete pavers today are endless! At Green Monster Landscapes, we love to throw in a little flair in the patios that we install. We aren’t afraid of a little cutting. Maybe it’s running the pattern at a 45° angle. Perhaps we will install a band or border of a different color. We have also been known to get fancy from time to time with “paver quilting” – the application of installing a different paver pattern and colors within a larger pattern.
Another option for homeowners is natural Bluestone flagging and steps. This is especially popular in the landscaping style found in the New Hampshire Lakes region. Lakefront homes often require a cottage-style landscaping and Bluestone is a perfect fit.
Another pavement option that’s growing in popularity for both Lakes Region landscaping and seacoast areas are permeable pavers. Permeable pavers filter storm water runoff through the pavement, as opposed to asphalt which washes oily films from the surface that ultimately end up in our lakes and streams. Also, when permeable pavers are used in a driveway application it does not count as a non-porous surface. This is an added benefit to someone building on a small waterfront property because town ordinances only allow a certain percentage of the land to be covered with a non-porous surface. Less driveway means more house!
