Stone Masonry

Mark Arsenault

New Hampshire is called the “Granite State” for good reason – it’s our greatest natural resource! Stone masonry is very significant part of Green Monster Landscapes for this reason. To some folks here in New Hampshire, we are only known as stone masonry contractors!

Landscaping with stone is an art that seems to have all but disappeared among landscape contractors. Perhaps this is because of the popularity of concrete retaining wall block. Concrete block has a lower cost factor and a simplicity of installation that simply cannot be matched using natural stone. We are certified installers of concrete block through the National Concrete Masonry Association (NCMA), and we install a lot of it. It’s a great option for our clients. But we have never lost our passion for the art of building with stone.

There is something about staring at a stone wall that is relaxing. It is indeed a large puzzle in which pieces must be fit together with a blend of sizes and layers, and there are many different ways to do it. Every stone mason has a style, a signature, that can be seen in the work that they do.

Our stone masonry landscape construction crew can install interior applications as well. Stone fireplaces and hearths, granite countertops, flooring or wall tile are all within the scope of what our stone masons can do. In fact, it’s a perfect fit for a landscaping company in the New Hampshire Lakes Region, remodeling seasonal homes throughout the winter!

When we construct with stone in the landscape, we will cut, shape, and split our stones until they fit perfectly. Drill holes in New Hampshire granite is a classic look that is desirable in both interior and exterior design style. It gives recognition of a time long ago when the Granite State quarries dug, blasted and split the hard New Hampshire granite that would serve to build foundations for the many mill buildings across the state that made New Hampshire great.
